Novi High School prank leads to Lifetime movie
Novi grad has the last laugh,'Queen Sized': Film pays off; teen is no longer butt of joke. Click the link above to read the Free Press article about a Novi High School student's experience that became a made-for-TV movie. Find an interview with the star Nikki Blonsky by clicking the link at the end of this blog.
After reading the article and watching the video, what is your reaction? If there was a made-for-TV movie about your high school, whose story might they tell? Who might be cast in the leading role? What do you feel are the benefits of this movie? How might the movie influence students and their behaviors toward each other? What else do you think television can do to help students learn how to be successful and respectful adults? Can you find any other Michigan students who have influenced television or film? Let me know what you think...

The movie was really good, it had its sad moments, but what I liked about it was that it was true. It made me sad to see that the students were treating her that way, and the sad thing is that there are schools like that. If they did a movie on our school it would probably be about all the drama that revolves around here. The main characters would probably be the freshmen because they always bring in the drama. The movie would influence the students by showing how dumb it all is.

This movie was very influential, it demonstrates how high school kids really treat eachother && how students could really hurt their peers. It may influence others not to judge on ethnicity/race, orientation, gender, and even weight.

I thought the article was really good! I would love to see the movie and hopefully other people will realize how its not always about the looks on a person. If you just joke and vote for someone for the heck of it like for president at school or for homecoming queen/princess, because in the end they'll get the best out of it!

I would like to see the movie, since its based on a school near us. Interesting. :)

I'm glad to hear you guys are interested in this. I especially thought about our own "Challenge Day" at Fitzgerald when I was reading this. Do you know any other movies that are based on Michigan happenings??

I think the Novi high school movie is a good film. I belive it would inspire people like Kimerly Mitchell. also i think it would make diffrent high school students look at things in another persons point of view.

I wish i could of went to challenge day..i think they should have one more challenge day before the school year is over, just for the seniors who did not get to participate. It may even help all of us that are leaving high school & going out into the real world. School is just one out of so many places where you would see this kind of hostility.
nice article,
im planning on watching the movie now it seems interesting

The incident the movie was based on happened the year before I moved to that school :/
