Just got emailed about another contest this morning. Here is some information about the contest: Aspiring filmmakers now have a chance to springboard their careers through the Doorpost Film Project, a new contest that will offer monetary awards totaling $300,000 to a fresh wave of talent who produce compelling short films. The inaugural contest, which has two competitive rounds culminating with a film festival in Nashville, Tenn. in September 2008, provides a grand prize totaling $100,000 and second and third place awards for $30,000 and $20,000 respectively.
You can find the link here: www.thedoorpost.com

Not everyone really like making video to compete. But others may think that entering into a contest is boring and some just like making the video's. Personally I take pride in what I do and I love to film and make videos but entering a competition is not something that I would like to do... Sincerely Porshia Marie

I think that a contest is such a good way to get noticed and your work its fun and exciting to be able to share your work with others.Makes you want to be the best at what you do if you wana win the contest
You are definitely right, not everyone has the goal of competition in mind when they are creating a video...but once you get done with your masterpiece, how awesome would it be to simply send a copy in the mail to a group and have them reward you for your hard work and creativity?! On the other hand, you can find good video ideas from contests. If you are stuck with "video block" (similar to "writers block") looking at contests might help give you a springboard to start from....
Practice Makes Perfect(John Adams)
As stated earlier practice makes perfect. With all the contests to be taken there is a lot of practice so that any amatuer can increase their skills and some day even become the next Steven Speilberg or George Lucas.
A contest is a great way to express your self to others and let them no what your work is all about i think if you scared to enter then it must not be dat good
Queen Latifah
There is a great site called smosh.com that is holding a contest for best replication of the wicked sweet dance moves of the movie "Boxman's GirlFriend", the winner gets the stunt box that takes the most beating in the movie.

That word meant the fear of the number 666, for people to lazy to look it up.
Well I was just emailed another Video Contest, this time the winner gets a $1,500 scholarship! So, you seniors getting ready to go off to school, why not make a 30 second to 3 minute video about how much you LOVE tap water! Also discuss some of the controversy concerning bottled water. The "I heart Tap Water" Video Contest deadline is April 14, 2008. The website is here:
